Pakistan’s massive slice of the Karakoram Highway is the greatest road trip there is to be found anywhere on Earth. This epic road runs through lush farmland in the south to the tallest mountains on the planet in the north. There isn’t another road like this one, and it’s quickly gaining renown as one of the world’s best road trips.
This is an epic journey and though I’ve done it a few times, it never gets old. Drivers experience swings from scorching temperatures to nearly-freezing winds and back again in a matter of hours. And you get to experience all this while feasting on some of the most awe-inspiring vistas you’ll ever see!
The majesty that this road displays inspires sheer awe in such a way that nowhere else can compete with it. In my mind, the far northern stretches of the Highway don’t have an equal. Nowhere else can you drive on a paved highway surrounded by 7000-meter mountains on every side! On top of that, the shapes these mountains have molded themselves into are completely mind-bending.
